Introducing AnyCampus NFTs
With the new NFT feature, creators can mint an NFT that links directly to their published article. The idea is simple, but it brings meaningful benefits to both creators and readers and introduces a shift in how digital content can be handled.
Content Beyond the Platform
Content minted as an NFT lives permanently on a blockchain, independent of AnyCampus. This provides several advantages: Even if an article is deleted from the platform, the underlying content remains attached to the NFT, and whoever holds it can retrieve that content at any time. Because the NFT follows an open standard, it can be easily transferred, exchanged, or sold on external marketplaces such as OpenSea or OKX, just like any other NFT. If AnyCampus were ever to shut down, the creator’s work would not disappear. The NFT and the data it references remain available on-chain.
Long-Term Value
If an NFT is bought or resold in the future, creators can potentially benefit from those transactions. Blockchains make it possible to trace each NFT back to its creator, and the NFT standard allows rules to be set that allocate a portion of the value to the creator each time the NFT changes hands. This gives creators a way to participate in the long-term value of their work.
Articles as Collectible Assets
Readers can collect their favorite articles as NFTs, similar to collecting digital editions. Early collectors may end up holding pieces that gain value as the blog or its author becomes more recognized. Articles shift from being purely informational to digital assets worth collecting.
How Does It Work?
AnyCampus NFT turns a blog into a unique ERC-721 token that travels across wallets and marketplaces while staying verifiable end to end.
The NFT references the breadcrumbs, thumbnail, title, optional subtitle, full article body, category, published time, and creator information. It also snapshots engagement at mint time with like count, comment count, share count, and points granted.
Content and media live on IPFS so the article is retrievable without relying on AnyCampus. On-chain we write the ContractURI and TokenURI as IPFS CIDs, and we also store the blog title for direct resolution.
To make collections clearer and more flexible, each blog mints under its own contract which strengthens grouping, surfaces Collect counts per blog, allows contract level changes to propagate to all collected pieces, and supports custom settings per contract. Beacon Proxy is used to cut gas costs when deploying and minting. The same CID is reused across networks so identical content is recognized as the same article. animation_url lets readers open the article on external NFT marketplaces. Edited articles can be minted again as separate NFTs to preserve version history.
Under the hood it uses a stack including IPFS, Beacon Proxy, ERC-721, Alchemy, the Thirdweb SDK and Thirdweb Storage, OpenZeppelin, Foundry, and ethers.js.
