Get Discovered with the Right Category
Every curriculum on AnyCampus must fit into one of 13 main categories, each with its own subcategories:
Data Science
Marketing
Finance
Lifestyle
Design & Creative
Programming & Technology
Cryptocurrency & Blockchain
Web3 & Metaverse
Game
Business & Management
Physical Science
Academics
Personal Development
When uploading your curriculum, you’ll need to choose a main category from 13 options, which defines the overall subject of their curriculum. You can also select one primary subcategory and up to two optional subcategories for more specificity.
For example, if you’re launching a curriculum called “Mastering Instagram Marketing,” you might choose:
Marketing as the main category
Social Media Marketing as the primary subcategory
Content Strategy and Branding as optional subcategories
While this might seem like a small detail, choosing correctly improves visibility, ensures your course reaches the right learners, and keeps the platform well-organized.
Here’s how to find the most accurate category for your course.
Focus on Your Core Subject
Ask yourself: What is the primary skill or knowledge this curriculum teaches? Even if your curriculum overlaps multiple fields, go with the category that best represents the core learning outcome.
If you’re teaching Python for data analysis, the right category is Data Science, not Programming & Technology.
If your course covers user-friendly web design, it belongs in Design & Creative > UX/UI Design, not Programming & Technology > Web Development.
Think Like a Learner
When in doubt, put yourself in the learner’s shoes and choose the category they would browse first. Consider where students would naturally look for your course.
A learner searching for project management will check Business & Management > Project Management, not just Academics.
Someone looking for NFT game development will go to Web3 & Metaverse > NFT Development, not just Game.
Match with Existing Curriculums
Before selecting a category, check where similar curricula are listed. Browse popular courses in your subject area on AnyCampus and compare their content with yours. If they align, that category is likely the best fit. Learn from your peers to make an informed choice.
Avoid Trend-Chasing
It might be tempting to place your curriculum in a high-traffic category for more views, but this rarely works in the long run because:
The algorithm prioritizes relevance, so a misplaced course won’t rank well in search results.
Learners searching for a specific subject won’t find it where they expect.
Even if they do enroll, mismatched expectations can lead to negative reviews, hurting your curriculum’s performance.
Stick to the most accurate category; your curriculum will perform better.
Choose the Most Specific Category
Avoid broad categorization. If a more precise category exists, use it.
For example:
“Smart Contracts with Solidity” belongs in Cryptocurrency & Blockchain > Smart Contract Development, not just Programming & Technology.
“Machine Learning for Business Forecasting” should go under Data Science > Machine Learning, not just Business & Management.
